Every year, the Erickson Center for the Arts hosts over fifty events and classes including musical productions, theatrical productions, murder mystery dinner theater, art classes, movie nights, student art shows and more!
Biggest Little Town Parade and Fireworks
Curtis likes to celebrate Independence Day in a big way. The parade and fireworks are always on the Sunday that is closest to the 4th of July. Thousands of people come every year to line the streets and celebrate. After the parade, head on down to the Erickson Center Grounds for more fun!
This annual event is the largest fundraiser for the Erickson Center for the Arts. Featuring silent and live auctions, wine tasting booths, raffles, and more! This event is always on the fourth Saturday in July.
The first Saturday in August marks the Erickson Center for the Arts’ 906 Festival celebrating the Upper Peninsula. Featuring artists and organizations connected with the Upper Peninsula, food trucks, a beer and wine tent, live music, and photography contests.
The Curtis Chamber of Commerce puts on Oktoberfest every year. A celebration welcoming the cooler weather, foliage color change, friends, and family. Gather together to enjoy each other’s company and enjoy a brew under the beer tent.
Welcome in the Christmas and winter season by attending this Erickson Center for the Arts’ fundraising event. Enjoy appetizers and drinks while taking part in a silent auction. The silent auction is made up of numerous decor items, many of which are made by local artists, as well as gift items. Card raffles, mystery gifts, and door prizes are also available.
Taking place on Saturday of February’s Free Fishing Weekend, bring the kids for a day out on the ice. Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to fish in the well stocked fish coop and take part in many fun activities. Previous years have had a sledding hill, pinata, and more!
The Portage Anglers Club puts on many fishing contests throughout the year!
The Curtis Chamber of Commerce hosts multiple craft shows throughout the year. Featuring local artists and crafters, these shows are always a great place to find handmade items and gifts!
Every Wednesday starting in June, enjoy free live music on the grounds of the Erickson Center for the Arts. The live bands take stage in the bandshell. Bring chairs, blankets, drinks, and snacks while you enjoy music and the company of others.

Built in 1875, Crisp Point became Life Saving Station Number Ten in 1876 and was one of five stations on the coast of Lake Superior located between Whitefish Point and the town of Munising. There is also a gift shop, boardwalk, and access to the beach.

Fiborn Karst Preserve & Hendrie River Water Cave

From 1905 to 1936, this was the site of a limestone quarry. Today, remains of the quarry are still visible, including the railroad house and ore-car loader, foundations of the employee’s quarters and the boarding house. Features include springs, caves, and sinks. There are guidelines for the public to follow when visiting this unique site, put in place to prevent damage and unsafe cave exploration.
Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery

Established in 1951, Pendills Creek annually produces over 1 million lake trout from egg stage to yearlings to stock Lake Huron and Lake Michigan every spring. Visitors have access to information kiosks, and are able to do self-guided tours of the hatchery. Across the street from the hatchery is a public beach access to Lake Superior. After touring the hatchery, take the boardwalk to the beach or enjoy a picnic lunch under the pavilion.
Fayette Historic State Park & Townsite

Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Fayette Historic State Park features a visitor center, historic townsite, campground, and more. Visitors have the opportunity to walk the five miles of trails that offer views of the limestone cliffs surrounding the harbor. Fayette Historic Townsite offers original buildings visitors can tour inside that have been around for over 150 years. Fayette was once a busy community that centered around the manufacturing of charcoal pig iron.
