Meet Don and Nancy

The Owners and Caretakers of Hideaway Tiny Acres

Don and Nancy Loehr live in Curtis, Michigan, hidden away on 8 acres of land featuring wildflowers, raspberry bushes, apple trees, and woodland. They have worked hard to make their property a peaceful haven where they could relax after a long day of work.

Their Hideaway Tiny Cabin started out as a storage shed. They decided to transform it into a private space for their friends and family to stay while visiting the area. It became such a beloved retreat that Don and Nancy decided they wanted to share it with others.

Don, who has lived on the property for almost his entire life, is a retired logger who owned a family operated logging business for over 40 years. He has a natural talent for most anything mechanical and loves to build things using what he has on hand and purchasing very little. Besides the tiny cabin, he has built all the buildings on the property. Don built his own sawmill and cuts down the trees to saw lumber to be used on the projects he has for Hideaway Tiny Acres.

Nancy is originally from Metro Detroit, and moved to the Upper Peninsula in 2001. She loved being surrounded by nature, and embraced the challenge of making a living in a rural area. After many years, Nancy retired from in-person sales and marketing, and currently has an online business through Ebay and Amazon. She loves to spend her time in the garden, and to cook with the food she has grown on their property. Nancy also loves to create natural remedies using herbs and essential oils.

The other two residents of Hideaway Tiny Acres are Don and Nancy’s cats, Orange Blossom and Janey.
